Flower Crown Animal Hats

I don’t know about you all, but I am ready for spring. I am ready for warm weather, the Easter season, my birthday, my husband’s birthday, and our wedding anniversary. (Okay, maybe I just realized how busy we are going to be in a month or two.)

Spring fever gave me the inspiration to make the animal hats I have been wanted to make since the beginning of January. I’ve seen such cute knitted versions on Pinterest, but I hadn’t come across a crochet pattern for any of them. What do I do when I can’t find a pattern? Come up with one myself.

I hope you all enjoy making them as much as I did.

Flower Crown Animal Hats

Materials Needed:
H (5.00 mm) hook
G (4.00 mm) hook
Tapestry needle
I Love This Yarn: Gray Mist & White (for bunny hat), Toasted Almond & White (for deer hat), Burnt Pumpkin, White, and Black (for fox hat)
For the flower crown I used small bits of ILTY in Sungold, Soft Blue, Pink, Buttercup, and Light Sage. I had all of these in my stash and I’m sure other worsted weight yarn in similar colors would work just as well.

If you are making a fox hat, make sure to change to white for the SC and FPSC/BPSC rows.

For bunny ears, I used the Repeat Crafter Me bunny ear pattern which can be found here. The only change I made was instead of sewing the ears together I only SC them together using the Gray Mist omitting Row 16.

For the deer antlers, I used another Repeat Crafter me pattern. It can be found here. Use white to make these.

Fox & Deer ears (make 2 white & 2 main color):

CH 7.

Row 1: SC in second CH from hook, SC across. CH 1 and turn. (6)

Row 2-3: SC in each SC across. CH 1 and turn. (6)

Row 4: SC2TOG, SC in next 2 stitches, SC2TOG. CH1 and turn. (4)

Row 5: SC in each SC across, CH 1 and turn. (4) (If making fox hat, change to black on the main color portion of the ear.)

Row 6: SC2TOG twice, CH 1 and turn. (2)

Row 7: SC2TOG once. Fasten off. (1) If you are on the main color part of the ear do not fasten off. Layer the white on top of the main color and SC two pieces together.

Flowers (make 3):

Round 1: With H-hook and sungold, SC 5 in magic ring. Fasten off. (5)

Round 2: With G-hook and flower color choice, CH 1 (SC, HDC 3DC, HDC, SC) in each SC around. Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing.

Leaves (make 2):

With H-hook, CH 6, SS in second CH from hook, SC in next CH, HDC in next CH, DC in next CH, 3 DC in last CH. On other side of CH, DC in next CH, HDC in next CH, SC in next CH, SS in beginning CH. Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.

When attaching flowers crown to the hats, I always place the middle flower first to make sure everything else was evenly spaced.

Pattern is written in American terms. You can sell items made from this pattern. Please do not recreate pattern or represent as your own.

Flower Crown Unicorn Hat.

Do you ever have an idea that will not leave you alone until you execute it? That’s how I feel about this new hat pattern. I have two orders I should be working on, but I couldn’t focus on either one of them until this hat pattern came to fruition.
After the release of my Flower Crown Animal Hats, I heard the suggestion of releasing a child size hat pattern. So here it is. I am still working on the adult size pattern as well as the idea tomake a more masculine version. Hopefully, I will be able to bring that to you next week.
