#PrepareYourHeart - Week Seven.

Sorry this is late again! The past seven days have been a whirlwind. I cannot even begin to describe how overwhelmingly happy I am. That being said, I have neglected some responsibilities, my Monday post being one of them.
I am ready to delve into Colossians and Esther so let’s get started.
Colossians 3:1-11
I love this selection of Scripture. It perfectly outlines everything that we are not supposed to do. It gives the boundaries I so desperately crave. I really love having the specifics, and I feel like these verses give them to me. When we allow Christ to work in us, we are supposed to put away the “earthly” things. Our focus should not be on what He can do for us, but on what we can do for Him. I know that sounds so cliché, but it’s what this whole Christianity thing is all about. We should be showing Christ to those who do not know him.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:2)
We need to change our focus from the temporary to the etern…

#PrepareYourHeart - Week Six.

Oh my goodness! This week marks the halfway point of this study! I cannot believe that we have gotten to this point. I am so excited!
This is week has been crazy. I can hardly believe that it is Monday again. The week has just flown by. I am so thankful for everyday, but man time really is going by faster the older I get.
This past weekend was full of so many great things. I got to help celebrate a very special boy’s first birthday. Yesterday, both church services were fabulous. The Spirit moved in a mighty way. I was given the opportunity to share my testimony in youth service, which is always an awesome experience. To quote Pastor Nathan, when you tell your story, lives are changed. There is no way I would be where I am without the love of Jesus Christ.
I hope you all enjoyed your week and are still gleaning important things from the challenges. I also hope this coming week is no different.
Let’s get down to business.
1 Corinthians 7:20-40
I have to admit that reading this section was a b…

#PrepareYourHeart - Week Five.

When I began to read the selection for this week, I felt a little ill-equipped. I know the Lord called me to do this study, but I definitely did not feel like I could do it this week. As soon as I cleared my mind and pushed away the thoughts of inferiority, I saw how this passage was about so much more than my first impression.
1 Corinthians 7:1-19
This passage in Corinthians is Paul's reply to many questions posed to him by the church at Corinth. The culture surrounding this church was full of sexual temptation MUCH like the society that we face today.
Everywhere you look, it is easy to find temptation. Whether it is a click away on the Internet, a television commercial or a walk around the mall, sex is everywhere all the time. My heart hurts for the man of today. It has to be extremely difficult to constantly have to avert your eyes. It is hard for anyone to withstand these temptations when they feed normal and natural desires that God has built within all of us.
That is why God cre…

#PrepareYourHeart - Week Four.

This week has started out to be more complicated than the past couple. Just the process of being able to post this was more difficult than it should have been. This leads me to believe there is something that is going to be said that makes all the difference for someone. If I went through all of that just for one person, it is so worth it.
I’m not going to air my dirty like I did last week. That is not what this week is about. I need to get the message out there with the bare minimum of distractions.
That being said, let’s get started.
Ephesians 5:15-32
I have heard this portion of Scripture quoted at weddings just as much as 1 Corinthians 13. We tend to focus on two key verses.
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. (Ephesians 5:22)and Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. (Ephesians 5:25)

What I think we tend to overlook is verse 21
Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. (Ephesians 5:21)
When it comes to a relationship of …
