I love anchors as much as the next person, but (like most things I write patterns for) I have a hard time finding a pattern for one that I like. I would rather have appliques worked all in one piece than have to sew parts together and then sew them on a project.
H (5.oomm) hook
Project in need of Anchor Applique
Worsted Weight Yarn in any color
CH – chain
SC – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet
HDC2TOG – half double crochet two together
DC – double crochet
SS – slip stitch
ST - stitch
Note: HDC2TOG = YO, insert hook in next ST, Pull up a loop, YO, insert hook in next ST, Pull up a loop, YO, Pull through all loops on hook.
Step 1: CH 3, work 9 HDC in 3rd CH from hook (2 skipped CH do not count as first HDC). Do not SS to join!
Step 2: CH 12, DC in 3rd CH from hook and in each CH, SS in first HDC of anchor top, turn.
Step 3: SS in first DC, CH 6, HDC in 3rd CH from hook and in each CH, SS in the top of the next DC and across it (2 SS across, 1 SS in CH ST). (At this point you should be on the other side of the DC. You could fasten off yarn and reattach on the other side if you would prefer)
CH 6, HDC in 3rd CH from hook and in each CH, SS in DC before Step 3, turn.
Step 4: SS in next 9 DC, CH 8, HDC in 3rd CH from hook, HDC in each of the next 4 CH, 2HDC in next CH, SS in each of the skipped CH from Step 2 and in first DC of Step 2 (You may not need to SS in the DC. It just depends on how your stitches line up).
CH 9, HDC in 3rd CH from hook, HDC in each of the next 4 CH, HDC2TOG, SS in 2nd DC of Step 2. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Feel free to sell the items you make from this pattern. Just don't sell or reproduce this pattern as your own. If you do share this pattern make sure you link back to this blog.
I hope you are enjoying the long weekend as much as I am.
